At 1149 feet tall, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest observation tower
in the United States and ranks among the worlds’ tallest structures. The
Tower features a 12 level upper accommodation framed in steel supported by
775 feet of reinforced concrete resting on a mat foundation.
The design of the Tower included sophisticated computer modeling of dynamic
behavior and nonlinear analysis of the reinforced concrete shaft. Wind
tunnel studies were contracted through Cermak Peterka Petersen, Inc.
